In the movie titled “The day after Tomorrow”, it shows the possible effects of global warming which is very frightening. The chance of it to happen in real life is possible.

Global Warming is increase in the average temperature of the atmosphere, oceans, and landmasses of Earth. At present Earth appears to be facing a rapid warming, which most scientists believe its because of human activities. The main cause of this warming is believed to be the burning of fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, which releases into the atmosphere carbon dioxide and other substances known as greenhouse gases. As the atmosphere becomes abundant in these gases, it becomes a better insulator, retaining more of the heat provided to the planet by the Sun.

Global warming has certain effects on weather, agriculture, animals and plants, and human health. There will be increase of temperature in global warming which can alter the weather, thus colder region will get warmer and ice caps and ice bergs will melt faster which cause higher tides. Storms will be more intense and frequent. There will also be an effect on agriculture since global warming can change the weather conditions in areas where the seasons of planting agricultural products are affected. Global warming also had an impact on animals and plants. Animals from colder region will have a hard time adjusting to a hotter climate and may die. Plants may propagate slower and may not be able to survive for long. And of course, global warming had a great consequence on human health. Human from colder region will more likely to suffer from heat stress and may not survive. Diseases will easily be developed since a warm air produces more bacteria and viruses.

The question then is “How can we stop Global warming? Now that we know what causes global warming and its effect to us, everyone must be concerned on keeping our mother earth clean. This can be achieved by reducing the production of substances that causes greenhouse effects. Recycling and using environment friendly alternatives is also another remedy for global warming.
